ABSOLUTELY!: Birth control pills suppress ovaries (turn them off) and the hormones you get come completely form the pill. The levels of hormones on birth control pills are less than you would be getting if your ovaries were producing them. It is not uncommon to stop having periods after long intervals of birth control pills, especially low dose pills. This is not a problem.

Almost no periods: Yes the birth control pills can cause this. See your doctor about perhaps changing the type of pill so that your periods are more like normal.
