Rare now.: Catatonia is a dazed state where the patient becomes rigid and is often noted in schizophrenia. When it is severe and prolonged and they don't eat, they can be fed intravenously but with the treatment available now, this state is almost non-existent. They may lose continence when catatonic as i said this is very rare with current medications.
