Great caution: This depends on which ayurvedic medicine as there are many. The most common ayurvedic medicine for constipation is triphala; some websites say it should be avoided in pregnancy as its "downward flowing" energy could trigger a miscarriage or premature birth. Others say it's safe to use during pregnancy in small doses.I advise avoiding most herbs in the first trimester.Small amounts may be ok later.
