1-2 months: Most people find the periods regulate on their own in 1-2 months after removing a Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud. There is nothing for you to do but wait. Be sure you're using birth control of some kind unless you're attempting pregnancy.

Birth control: Consider starting birth control if you prefer better cycle regulation. Once the Mirena (levonorgestrel) is out of your body you are back to your baseline. There is no lingering effect from Mirena (levonorgestrel) as demonstrated by your normal cycle 1 month after removal. If you are irregular now then it is not from Mirena (levonorgestrel) but rather your own hormones.
