Really nervous about vaginal exam, speculum always hurts and i can never relax enough. what can i do and how uncomfortable is rectal exam?

Uncomfortable: Both the vaginal and rectal exams are uncomfortable, but should not be painful. You can request a smaller speculum. They come in different sizes. Try to relax the muscles on the inside of your thighs by letting your legs fall open. That will reduce the pressure of the speculum.
