Amount of blood: The difference between spotting and bleeding is the amount. With spotting only a small amount of blood is coming out of the vagina, enough to put drops of blood on a panty liner. Bleeding can vary from light to heavy and can cover the surface of a pad. Women commonly bleed after the morning after pill, and can be spotting or light bleeding.
