"Great baby Daddy": This sounds like the "perfect" baby daddy candidate, a alcoholic and heavy smoker who will provide second hand smoke to you and the baby. Unfortunately, you can still get pregnant, but for the love of the fetus do you really want to?

6-12 months: This depends on how old you are to start with. If you are < 35 years old and healthy you should wait a year before getting too worried. If you are >35 years old or have medical problems or have had problems getting pregnant before, you should see your doctor after 6 months of trying.

With something else: There are spermicidal gels and foams that are great used in conjunction with condoms but they aren't sufficient by themselves.

My wife is having a difficult time getting pregnant. We have been trying for 5 months. What would be a next step? Should we see a doctor?

Wait: Make a record of wife's menstrual cycle. The doctor may want to see 12 mos. Of this. Determine if she is ovulating by getting her temperature in the morning. Both need to agree to see the doctor. Wife will see a gynecologist. Husband will see a urologist.

A 41-year-old female asked:
When should I start getting pregnant after a misscarriage?

1-3 months: You'll see different recommendations, but after an early miscarriage (1st trimester), most will say wait for 1-2 menstrual cycles. It makes sense to get at least one turnover of the uterine lining, and it will help you to time intercourse to match ovulation. It can take 1-3 months for your cycle to return. Stay on your pnv as well.
