ADHD: Sedatives will not help a person with adhd focus or study. The exception to this might be if they are overstimulated and need to calm down.

Make symptoms worse: If a person really has ADHD, based on the known neurochemistry, is given sedatives, it should make the symptoms worse. If the symptoms are really from anxiety, not ADHD, the symptoms may improve.
