Avapro and Zestril (lisinopril): Avapro (irbesartan) (a) is a member of the angiotensin receptor blocker (arb) class of drugs. Lisinopril (l) is a member of the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ace-i) class of drugs. They act at different sites of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Both reduce proteiuria and blood pressure. Ace-i's have a higher incidence of cough. Ask your physician for more information about them.
