Keep 'em soft!: Anal fissure treatment is aimed at controlling constipation and reducing anal sphincter spasm. High fiber diet, stool softeners, and lots of fluids help relieve constipation and keep bms soft. Warm water sitz baths for 15 minutes 3-4 times a day are soothing and promote relaxation of the anal muscles, which can also help healing. Occasionally, a variety of special medications or creams may be used.
