Tarsal Tunnel : As a podiatrist, when treating a patient with tarsal tunnel syndrome, i need the help of a pain management specialist for 2 reasons while I am working on the ankle itself. The pain management specialist (typically a physiatrist in our practice) will help control the pain and help rule out low back involvement. The nervous system must be calmed down quickly to prevent getting out of control.

Options available: 1. They may use oral medications 2. Series of injections could be added as well 3. They may refer you back to the podiatrist for orthotics and or in extreme cases, it may be necessary to perform a tarsal tunnel release surgical procedure if nothing else works...
