A member asked:

Could people with mental illness fight their condition/s?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Pop" misconception: One of the cruelest things that you can do is tell someone with real mental illness to "snap out of it." things that are easy for most of us are very difficult for people who have brain anatomy or chemistry disturbances or whose life experience has forced them to learn behaviors and attitudes unlike yours. You have little insight when you dream; don't expect others to self-cure. Urge compliance.
