Variability: This varies with the person's commitment to both self-acceptance and need for change -- and willingness for treatment. With individual therapy ; dbt, the storms in relatedness may gradually quiet. Without intensive therapy along w/dbt, the suffering inside the bpd person can be so intense that perceptions are very distorted -- and the partner's emotional reserves are used up too.

Borderline: I Suppose it's possible, but it's going to be extremely difficult. Remember what you're dealing with here are intense fear of abandonment, being manipulative, impulsivity, a tendency to think of people and things in all good or all bad terms, self mutilating behaviors, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual impulsivity, a profoundly disturb sense of self, and extreme emotional volatility.
