Not related: Folic acid is helpful in preventing spinal cord or neural tube abnormalities in the baby. It is possibly related to prevention of cleft palate formation also. It is unrelated to multiple pregnancies.

Not likely: Folate (folic acid) / Folic Acid helps prevent neural tube (/spinal cord) defects. Family history and use of ovulation stimulant medications predispose to multiple pregnancies.
