Total body tension: The headache would not cause the blood pressure spike, but the 2 symptoms could come together in one person. I have also seen hypertensive people develop headaches when BP rises quickly. Tension headache means the muscles around your scalp are very tense, and they can hurt like muscles anywhere else in your body can hurt.
