Nodules: You need to see a pulmonary dr. To get an evaluation and have the areas assessed. The radiology society has "fleishner" guidelines that can serially check the nodule. You definitely need to stop smoking, as there is nothing good that comes from smoking. As worded in your question, ...I assume you have no "blood in sputum" but if you do have blood in sputum, see pulm asap. Best wishes.
