how long should you have to wait to drink beer or wine after taking epilepsy medicines?

Dr. Gamal Boutros
38 years experience Neurology
Wrong question: One drink of beer or wine is not the problem, no cut off number is available---but people with epilepsy will have more seizures if they abuse alcohol, mostly from alcohol withdrawal or after binge drinking--also alcohol affect drug treatment and compliance.

Should not drink: You shouldn't be drinking period. Alcohol and antiepiletic medications don't mix very well, plus the epileptic brain is very sensitive to alcohol.
