I had acute pancreatitis 10 years ago following a cryptosporidium infection. although not the cause, i have avoided alcohol since. is this necessary?

Endocrine: Not necessarily but it depends on how much you drink and how frequently. Also what was the cause of the pancreatitis? Alcohol certainly can lead to pancreatitis so be judicious.

Alcohol Use: I agree with Dr. Widman. What was the cause of the pancreatitis? Have you had pancreatic issues since then. The cryptosporidiosis probably is not the issue here. I would talk with doctor who can put the whole picture into context.
