Perioral dermatitis: What you describe sounds like perioral dermatitis, a relative of rosacea. Foods generally don't make it worse but cortisone creams and heavy moisturizers do. We use anti inflammatory medications such as topical creams such as metronidazole, sulfur/sulfacetamide and oral antibiotics to reduce the inflammation. It may take several months to get the rash under control.
