A member asked:

Is suicide acceptable after hiv infection?

Terrible idea: I enjoy reasonably good health and perhaps do not have the right to dictate what is "acceptable" to someone who is gravely ill, in terrible pain, and without the ability to socialize or enjoy life. But nowadays, being infected with HIV is manageable and most such people life near-normal lives. If anyone has told you otherwise, they are lying. Please forgive my candor and get educated about hiv.

Getting HIV: I would hope that your bravery in asking this question will extend to the bravery it will take to ask for help where you live. I think it is common to wonder if life is over when you get a diagnosis like HIV infection. Many people really struggle, most privately, with this big blow to their life's plan. But, the message today is that people live with hiv. They do not die from hiv.
