Depends on the stage: Depends on the stage of cancer, the biology , overall health condition of patients. Nowadays treatment of lung cancer is personalized based on the stage and biology of cancer. Patients can survive only for several months, a few /several years or could be cured in a very early stage. In a study, overall survival in stage IV non small cell lung cancer- is approximately 15 months.

Life expectancy: Depends of tumor factors, i.E stage, type of cancer and patient factors like age, gender, overall-health and how well you can tolerate treatment. If detected very early where surgery or radiosurgery can be offered, the cure rates can be quite excellent (70-90% +) , and if detected late, as in the case where the tumor has already spread outside the lung, there are few 5 year survivors.

It varies.: Depending on the stage at diagnosis, life expectancy can vary. Only 20% of patients have localized disease at diagnosis. The 5 year survival is 20% for men, and 50% for women who have localized disease. Patients with advanced disease have 5% 5 year survival.
