Viral infection: You describe obesity as a cause of liver cirrhosis and i believe you may be referring to the also interesting phenomenon of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis that can be thought of as a form of early liver injury! the most important cause of liver cirrhosis if excluding alcoholism is viral infection. The hepatitis c virus is well known for causing cirrhosis if untreated in susceptible individuals.
