Yes: Certain drugs may cause lupus or make "simmering" underlying lupus flare. These drugs include procainamide, hydralazine, minocycline, diltiazem, penicillamine, Isoniazid (inh), quinidine, anti-tumor necrosis factor Alpha therapy (with Infliximab and etanercept), interferon-alfa, methyldopa, chlorpromazine, and practolol. Yes: There are certain medications that cause lupus like illness this type of lupus is not like regular systemic lupus erythematosus. If you stop the drug that causes drug induced lupus the lupus usually resolves. Regular lupus has many manifestations not seen in regular lupus especially kidney involvement and neurological involvement. They also have different laboratory tests.
