Viral infection: If you have not abused your voice, for example, at a rock concert, the most common cause of a runny nose and laryngitis (loss of voice) is a viral infection. These symptoms with or without conservative treatment such as voice rest and nasal saline irrigations, should resolve in 1-2 weeks.
