A member asked:

How do you put ointment in eyes without contaminating?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cotton swab: I advise patients to gently squeeze a very small amount of the ointment on the tip of a clean cotton swab and then use the swab to apply the ointment to the eyes. This is a little trickier if you are administering the ointment to an infant or small child, but you can still pull the lower eyelid down and away from the eye to avoid poking the eye with the cotton swab.
