Hormones off: This most likely cause is that your hormones are off this cycle. If that is the cause, it will correct on its own next cycle. Other causes can be a growth in the lining of the uterus, such as a polyp or fibroid, or spotting from ovulation, which starts around the middle of the month for a few days. Possibly infection in the cervix. Check with your doctor if next cycle isn't normal.
