Sore throat: Most sore throats are viral and must go its course, but may be strep which should be treated with antibiotics. A teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and then gargle may be soothing. A sore throat which persists beyond 5-7 days should prompt a visit to the doctor.

Some remedies: If you have a significantly sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see your medical provider & get a streph throat test. Saltwater gargles are very helpful. Mix a teaspoon of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle with this several times a day. You can gargle with aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mixture of chamomile tea with honey & a small amount of lemon juice is good.
