A member asked:

Is it harmful for a 2 yr old to drink city water treated with flouride?

Not necessarily: If the level is within the suggested standards to reduce dental decay, it is fine at all ages. There are rare parts of the country with ground source water that has excessive fluoride, and the content should be readily available on your municipal water company site or bill.

No: Fluoride in public water supplies have been shown to be safe and effective. In fact, it is the single best way to strengthen developing teeth. Just make sure your child does not get vitamins with Fluoride in addition. In that case, the total Fluoride intake would be too much.

Harvard says...: A harvard study recently comments that there are risks to be considered. http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/fluoride-childrens-health-grandjean-choi/ flouride should only be used topically and kept out of the public water supply until the data has been analyzed and our public health experts take another look at new information.
