No: Depression is due to a chemical imbalance in the brain. It can present as feeling helpless and hopless, tired all the time or more commonly in older adults, anxiety and memory loss. Depression and prolonged sleeping wont cause brain damage. Treatment, however, will help you fell more energized and think more clearly.
