'dead arm'(MDI): At your age that feeling u had sounds like'dead arm syndrome'.Basically, your shoulder joint can partially slip out of place (subluxate) and it can feel like it is'hanging there' and sometimes feel like your whole arm goes dead for a brief period of time, then it reduces and feels 'normal'.This is fairly common in' loose-jointed' females.I would reccommend seeing an ors for evaluation of 'mdi'.
