Normal: Typically a cyst forms where the egg that was released causing the pregnancy. This is a normal development of the follicle. Sometimes that follicle can fill with more fluid as the pregnancy progresses. That follicle actually provides the hormones to support the pregnancy until the placenta takes over at around 6-7 weeks. Most women will have a cyst of 2-4cm at 5 weeks of pregnancy.
