Orthopedic sports: Any orthopedic surgeons is quite capable of diagnosing and properly treating shin splints. If you have the access then look for an orthopedic surgeon preferably with subspecialty fellowship training in sports or board certification in sports. Good luck.

Sports medicine: I agree with dr. Hadied, a sports medicine specialist would be where you want to go although a phsical therapist who specializes in running assessment could be very beneficial.
