A member asked:

Does neutrophils play a significant role in the inflammation of ra? if so how ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Neutrophils are one type of white blood cells. Both they and lymphocytes are intimately involved in inflammation. In many cases they are the bodies first and best defense against inflammation or infection. The white blood cell count can be elevated purely on the basis of active inflammation or, at times, from the medications used to treatcthecinflammation(like steroids).
