A member asked:

Can a possible uti or bladder infection do anything to cause irregularity with your periods? how do you get a uti without sex?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

UTI : Urinary tract infection is common in women and although sexual activity can contribute, it is not a sexually transmitted disease. Most often, bacteria from the anal region make their way to the urethral opening in vulnerable patients. Bacteria increase during menses and pad/tampon use increase the bacteria present.
