Maybe hip bursitis: It is likely that you have a condition called trochanteric bursitis of your hip--it is inflammation of the area surrounding the curve of the hip-thigh bone. Possibly resulted from excessive use/walking/running and/or laying on the side on a firm/hard surface too long. Hip arthritis and disc disease can cause hip pain as well. Motrin/aleve may help. If not better, consult doc for eval. Good luck.

See details: I would have the situation evaluated and x rays done first. Glucosamine may have some value but a response to it is far from a sure thing.

When there's OA: The combination of glucosamine and chondroitin has been shown in studies to (1) provide a degree of pain relief in the short term, and (2) trigger growth of new cartilage when taken for at least two years straight. So it can help you pain and reverse some of the chronic damage. You can find this in the health food store. Start when arthritis is evident and painful.
