Colon Cancer: There has to be more to this story. If there were polyps or other signs of risk for colon cancer then the screening is frequent.

Ask him/her!: Unless you have inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis(where there is a risk of developing colon cancer) there is no other condition which requires annual colonoscopy. For screening for colon cancer in healthy people we recommend it to be done every 5 years to every 10 years. So ask your gastroenterologist why he/she is doing it so frequently?
