No: Celiac disease is not associated with autism in the sense that one causes the other, nor in the sense that a single cause is responsible for both disorders. However, a person with autism can also have celiac disease, among other diseases. Likewise, a person with celiac disease can also have autism, among other diseases.

No: Autism is a complex neurobiological inherited disorder that is worsened by environmental toxins. Celiac disease is a digestive disorder that prevents absorption of gluten from the diet. There is no scientific evidence the two are related. Years ago, there was a flurry of thinking that malabsorption of gluten could lead to or worsen autism. This has been disproven.

Not Yet: There is no apparent direct association.Just as some autistic patients may have asthma, some may have celiac disease.Although some folks blieve that the celiac diet improves the autisitic behaviors, I have noy seen this and am not aware of any solid scientific research supporting it.
