Doctor can evaluate: A primary care doctor can evaluate to see if there is a physical problem causing the described sensations. If needed, the doctor can refer to physical therapy if the neck muscles are tight, to ENT if an ear issue is suspected, and to cardiology if the heart exam seems unusual. The doctor will also look to see if the symptoms are more related to "lying awake in bed", and thus sensing the symptoms.
