Sickness: Excessive sleepiness can be from the sickness itself. The antibiotic can take 24 to 48 hours to start working. She got Dexamethasone injection for what- croup? Or allergy. It will help her feeling better with regards to allergy, cough, swelling, nasal itching. Make sure her nose is not blocked, she drinks enough fluid. See the pediatrician if not better within 48-72 hours.
