Not usually: In contrast, drinking beer in high quantities can lead to gaining weight. If you've stopped drinking beer, what are you replacing it with? If you're eating other high caloric foods and not exercising, you will still gain weight. Also if you're now drinking other kinds of alcohol (whiskey, wine, etc) those are not low-calorie substitutes either.
