Symptoms with eating: Bean allergy is less common than other food allergies. Beans are legumes and include soy, peanut, kidney, lentil, string, green, etc. Bean allergy can cause anaphylaxis. The usual symptoms are hives, lip swelling, vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty breathing within hours after ingestion of beans. An allergist can assist in the diagnosis through allergy testing.
