A member asked:

What is the difference betweens cranial nerves and neurons in the brain. is it possible to damage a major cranial nerve?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cranial nerves: Cranial nerves originate directly from the brain. Spinal nerves emerge from sections of the spinal cord. A nerve is made of a bundle of axons and surrounding myelin from many nerve cells (or neurons). The cranial nerves can certainly become diseased or damaged. For instance, pathology of cranial nerve vii, or the facial nerve, is known as bell's palsy.
