A member asked:

Even if a herpes sore is not present, can it still infect other people?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Well, no: Technically, you need a herpetic lesion to be infectious. The problem is that sometimes you don't know you have a lesion (or developing one). In addition, it may be in a place that you can't see or easily feel. So, the short answer is no but you should still be careful.
