Beta blockers: If benzo's are not desirable then beta blockers may be at help in keeping your anxiety at bay prior to flying. Hydroxyzine is an option but could be too sedating for use in this way. You would need to test it out before taking it on a flight. L- theanine remains another option. It is over-the-counter. Perhaps some of my colleagues have experience with other options.

Flight Fear: Try practicing relaxation exercises 3 x day before your flight. Popular exercises include deep breathing and visualization. Look up these techniques online (tutorials, youtube videos). Often we get anxious bc we are convinced something bad is going to happen, instead of accepting that we can't predict the future. Identify if your anxiety is caused by these negative future predictions.

Propranolol: Hi- sonwtimes medications called beta blockers can be used to treat specific phobias/anxieties like test taking, flying or public speaking. It is a nonspecific beta blocker which functions to decrease heart rate and inhibiting the sympathetic effects of norepinephrine (thus preventing your body from producing panic like symptoms including palpitations, Increased heart rate etc).
