Yes: The typically mechanism of the whiplash syndrome to the neck is that of a rear end car accident when the driver of the car that is hit has the neck jerked backward and forward which can cause various injuries to the soft tissue of the neck. Most people do well and recover without permanent damage. A small percentage of people do have chronic problems though.
