Yes: Newborns can have internal bleeding in the brain by the same mechanisms as adults, but most commonly, especially if premature, from an interventricular hemorrhage (ivh). Not all cerebral hemorrhages or ivh are fatal-it depends on the amount of brain tissue involved and the patients general health.
