My ef number was 78%, higher than standard range. what does this mean? on echocardiogram.

Not Much: The ef measurements on an echo can sometimes be a little off. As long as the number isn't low (less than 50%) you're ok. When the measurement comes back at some number like 78%, it generally only means the heart function is normal.
