Button battery: Button battery ingestion is extremely serious. They can erode an esophagus or stomach in just an hour or so. These ingestions are responsible for many deaths in children and is one of the most serious problems children face. It is likely that there has not been an ingestion because your child would have been symptomatic if this had happened. Please keep all button batteries away from children.

Go get an xray: Button batteries can cause significant burns in the esophagus in as little as 2 hours. Ingestion of a button battery is an emergency that requires immediate evaluation. A significant burn from a button battery can be fatal and unfortunately i've seen it happen. If you even suspect a battery ingestion, go to the emergency room immediately. By this time you may be ok but you need an xray to know.
