Yes bad idea: You should not drink alcohol before surgery. It is advisable not to drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before surgery. This is because alcohol stays around longer than we believe and combined with our anesthetic and sedation drugs, can make you become very sick and can cause post-surgery illness due to dehydration and prolonged recovery time.
