Technically.: My trainers tell me not to do that. You should get them to tell you proper technique. Because the neck moves so much it is easy to lift unbalanced and strain it. While some damage is a stimulant for muscle growth (low oxygen; lactic acid production). These are very brief pain and strains are not helpful and last longer.
